Terms of Use
Last updated: 22 June 2026
Welcome to SmartKhata, a free digital khata (ledger) app by Blackwood. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
SmartKhata helps small businesses record udhaar (credit), payments, customers and suppliers, set due dates, send reminders and generate reports. It is provided free of charge and is supported by in-app ads.
2. Your responsibility for your data
Your ledger is stored on your device. You are responsible for the accuracy of the entries you make and for keeping your phone secure. We strongly recommend enabling optional cloud backup so you can restore your data if your phone is lost or replaced.
3. No financial or legal advice
SmartKhata is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide accounting, tax, GST or legal advice.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the app lawfully and not to misuse it — for example, to harass others through reminders or to store unlawful content. Reminders you send are your communications to your customers.
5. Availability & “as is”
The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep it reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the extent permitted by law, Blackwood is not liable for any loss arising from use of the app, including data loss where backup was not enabled.
6. Ads
The app shows a small banner ad to remain free. Ads are served by Google AdMob, subject to Google’s policies.
7. Changes
We may update the app and these terms over time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
