Privacy Policy

SmartKhata (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a free digital khata (ledger) app made by Blackwood. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. In short: your khata is stored on your device, and we never sell your data.
1. Data stored on your device
Your ledger — customers, suppliers, udhaar/payment entries, notes, due dates and attached bill photos — is stored locally on your phone and works fully offline. We cannot see this data unless you choose to use cloud backup.
2. Login & your mobile number
You sign in using your mobile number via secure OTP, powered by Firebase Authentication (Google). Your number is used to identify your account and to tie any optional cloud backup to you.
3. Optional cloud backup
If you choose to back up, a copy of your ledger is stored securely in Google Firebase Storage, tied to your mobile number, so you can restore it on a new phone. Backup is entirely optional and off until you turn it on.
4. Ads
A small banner ad (Google AdMob) keeps the app free. Ads use an advertising identifier, which is standard for mobile ads. We do not share your khata data with advertisers.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand general, aggregated usage (for example, which features are used) so we can improve the app. This does not include the contents of your ledger.
6. Permissions we may request
- Contacts — only to let you import parties. Imported data stays on your device.
- Camera / Photos — only to attach bill or product photos to entries.
- Notifications — to remind you about due payments (optional).
7. What we never do
We do not sell your personal khata data. We do not share your customer or financial records with third parties for marketing.
8. Children
SmartKhata is intended for business owners and is not directed at children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
